The TACC Announces Support for Tahlequah Public Schools Bond Issue

The Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Support for upcoming

Tahlequah Public Schools capital improvements bond issue

Tahlequah, OK – The Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) Board of Directors has voted to

support the Tahlequah Public Schools capital improvements bond issue, to be approved by the

Tahlequah School Board on July 1, 2025. The vote for the issue will take place during a special

election on September 9, 2025.

After a presentation from Tahlequah Superintendent Tanya Jones, the Chamber Board of Directors

voted to unanimously support the individual projects included in the bond as well as the package as

a whole. These investments will continue to help our local school district continue to grow and add

additional services our students and community need. Public education is a pillar in every

community as it supports every aspect for community growth. Without a strong public education

sector, the community as a whole will be hard pressed to be successful in any area.

“The Chamber stands behind this initiative because education is THE key to success in any

community,” said Nathan Reed, President/CEO of the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce. “A

strong education system in a community is second to none when it comes where that community is

headed. A strong education system provides skills for students and creates a well-rounded and able

workforce. Education is the single best way to continue to combat poverty and bring all community

members up together.”

Supporting this measure means supporting the future of Tahlequah. With these funds, Tahlequah

Public Schools will be able to invest directly into the pride and success of their students. Projects

such as new STEM classrooms designed specifically for hands on experience, much needed

renovations in all schools to continue providing an environment where student growth is at the

forefront, and new security measures to ensure the safety of students at all locations. When you are

proud to be a Tahlequah Tiger, you will put your best foot forward in your schoolwork. When the

environment these students are in each day is one of safety and compassion, they will have a higher

rate of success. Supporting the students that go to Tahlequah Public Schools should be paramount

for all in this community.

After the presentation and vote of support, Superintendent Tanya Jones expressed her appreciation

for the Chamber’s forward-looking support. “I would like to thank the TACC for their continual

support and partnership. TPS appreciates the board recognizing and voting to support the district in

the upcoming bond resolution in September. Our organizations work together to make Tahlequah a

place people want to live and visit. Our partnership is of great value to TPS and this community!”

The Chamber encourages all residents to stay informed, understand the impact of this decision, and

participate in the upcoming election.
