Partners in Prosperity: NSU Athletics
Northeastern State University Athletics, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, brings eleven different sport teams to the community including baseball, softball, football, spirit squads, women’s tennis, and men and women’s soccer, basketball, and golf. As a MIAA network school, the RiverHawks are often keeping the students, alumni, and community members proud and entertained through sporting events. If you do not have your season pass yet, new sales are live and so are renewals.
NSU Athletics is represented in the TACC through both sponsorships and the Ambassador Program. Andrew Fletcher, NSU Assistant Athletic Director, serves as a Tahlequah Area Chamber Ambassador and you can often find him at Chamber events and ribbon cuttings. The NSU Athletics Program impacts the community through all of its arms and legs, but especially through faculty and student athletes.
Kicking off the school and Chamber fiscal year, NSU Athletics hosted the first Monthly Mingle in our lineup. When asked about the sponsorship experience, John Sisemore, Director of Athletics, said, “Monthly Mingle helped NSU Athletics connect with more community members on a personal level in one hour than we had in the past several months combined.”
In recent news, the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce has started a new program called the Chamber Choice Rewards Program. This program promotes member to member business and strives to connect members to each other. You can stop by the Chamber at 123 E. Delaware Street in Tahlequah to purchase your card for $3. Only Chamber members can offer discounts and only Chamber members can receive one as well. Bring your Chamber Choice card to the first home football game of the season on August 31st and get in for free. The Chamber tailgate starts at 4 p.m. and kickoff is at 6 p.m. Come support your favorite team at Doc Wadley Stadium. Go Hawks!
